I'm heading to Costa Rica and my girlfriend wants to spend a bit of time in Panama near the end of our trip. Most likely Panama City and mostly likely for around 5 days. We are not sure what to do though. Are there short cruises up the canal? Or a better area to visit then Panama City?
Depends what you want to do - there is a lot more to do in Panama than the canal. A great Island area is Bocas Del Toro which is located on the north east part of the country (about 5 hours from PAnama City) over 10 years agoAnswered by scott kredo
Bocas Del Toro is great - just don't spend much time on Bocas (the main island) almost 10 years agoAnswered by Courtney
5 days is not a lot of time for seeing Panama, and though I love Bocas del Toro, I would recommend staying in the old town of Panama City, Casco Viejo, and just do some day tours to the sights in the area. You can visit the locks on the canal, take a train along the canal to the Caribbean side, visit a Smithsonian research station, walk the Old Pipeline Road to spot the elusive bird of paradise, go fishing on the canal, and so much more. Have a look at our Top Spots in Panama page to decide where you want to go: www.travelintense.com/eco-travel-destinations/panama about 4 years agoAnswered by Michaela from Travel Intense
